Women & Power: A Manifesto

Mary Beard’s Manifesto¬†compares classic Roman literature and culture with contemporary sexism, highlighting all the ways in which we still need to make progress.

If women are not equal within the current power structures, she surmises, maybe it’s the structure that’s the problem.

The book is split into two lectures, the first exploring the ways in which women’s voices are not heard – or actively silenced – in the public sphere, and the second examining power structures and how women have tried to fit within them.

It’s a quick read¬†with a lot to add to the Rebel Girl Reads conversation.
